Since Ella is over 2 years old... I decided it was time for her first haircut... and since my mom cut my hair until I left for college it only seems logically that Nonna give Ella her first haircut. We set up a "beauty parlor" where Aunt Brady gave Austyn a haircut too to get Ella a little interested in the idea. She did well... and atleast her hair is even now! Another first for our little girl!
We spent Easter weekend at the lake with family. The weekend was a very nice and much needed break for us. We had great weather for a majority of the weekend, except for Easter Morning. The weather was overcast and cool so we had to change out of our Easter clothes for Ella's first Easter Egg hunt... she caught on very fast and found all the eggs and treats that the Easter Bunny hid for her!
Ella thought coloring eggs was kind of fun... but she preferred to "color" them with her crayons.... this seems to be a re-occurring theme (look back to pumpkin carving)! Her attention span was short though so mommy and cousin Jill had to finish them up....
Mom and Dad had a very nice patio and fire pit built at the lake house so we had to christening it with a fire and marshmallow roasting! Ella loves being outside so this was right up her alley.... plus the marshmallows were lots of fun too!
Ella turned 2 yesterday! It is amazing how fast the time goes.... We had dinner at Friendly's last night (a little tradition we started last year) and an ELMO Birthday party today. She had a great day with all her friends and family here.... and, of course, she got LOTS of nice gifts!
Usually our Christmas is very low key with just us and my family. This year was different as my Aunt and Uncle, Cousins, and Grandmother made it to Richmond for the Holiday! We had Christmas Eve dinner at mom and dad's before church and then visited some more afterwards. Ella thought she was a princess in her beautiful dress from her Nonna. On Christmas morning, we had breakfast and opened gifts at our house and then moved to mom and dad's house for stockings and dinner.
Ella had a great time and was especially happy to see her Aunt Brady and Uncle Dave and their puppies! I am not so sure the dogs were so happy to see her though! Ella figured out the art of opening gifts very quickly. She did poop out before we could finish opening gifts so she had to finish opening hers later in the day. Her favorite gifts included her squeaky shoes and crocs from her Nonna and Papa (she does LOVE shoes!) and her swing set from Santa Claus!
